Who do we teach?
Beyond Autism is a non-profit, private day school for those living with autism and related disorders. Approved through the Arizona Department of Education, our year-round, full day, comprehensive program enthusiastically serves students ages 6-22.
How Do We Teach?
Beyond Autism aligns its programming to the scientific principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) in order to maintain previously acquired skills, teach new skills, and reduce maladaptive behaviors. ABA, put simply, applies the scientific principles of learning in order to teach socially significant skills. We look at what motivates our students, and incorporate those things into our teaching to make learning fun and engaging for our students. The ultimate goal is to foster the acquisition of skills needed to live a full, happy, productive life!
Beyond Autism has an on-site Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to oversee daily progress in both the development of skills and improvement of maladaptive behavior through use of behavior intervention plans, functional behavior assessments, and skills assessments.

What Do We Teach?
In collaboration with our families, we seek to choose skills that are significant to the childs' independence and quality of their life. We want our students to feel empowered and capable by making sure that the skills taught have the potential to improve the student’s quality of life and the lives of the people closest to them. In particular, the skills selected should be of value both inside and outside of a school setting. We emphasize communication skills, teaching our students to be advocates for their own needs. Our skills focus on transference into the community where they can be applied in social and vocational settings.
